In case you have not watched SANJU yet, let me tell you that you are late already. This blockbuster has been the talk of the town for a while now and it deserves that talk because of Sanjay Dutt’s controversies. Bollywood pandits and intellectuals of the outside world have been debating about the content of this movie ever since Raju Hirani declared, that he will be making a film on Sanjay Dutt. Some say that it’s an attempt to portray the real Sanjay Dutt through a movie, while, others blame Raju Hirani for trying to create a fake perception about Sanjay Dutt. Well, it’s still a topic of debate whether Sanjay Dutt made bad choices and whether he was really involved in the act of terror or not but it is for sure that the film has come out to be a very good piece of art. Ranbir Kapoor has done a fabulous job in living the life of Sanjay Dutt on screen. By the way, if you didn’t know let me tell you that Ranbir Kapoor has always been fascinated by the life of Sanju Baba even in real life, specially his fleet of cars!
Let us not judge whether Sanjay Dutt is a good person or not and lets focus on the movie SANJU.
Ladies, one thing is for sure that you will get some dreams about Ranbir Kapoor after watching this movie because he was already too hot to handle and for this role he frequented the gym even more than before and came out with a damn yummy body. So while you feed on his body in your dreams, let me share the story line with you (filmmakers won’t quite like that but we are known to break the traditions aren’t we?).
The film follows the life of Sanjay Dutt, his relationship with his father, his dive into alcoholism and drug addiction, arrest for involvement in the 1993 Bombay blasts etc. and what not.
Manisha Koirala as Nargis Dutt (Sanjay’s mother) has a brief yet meaningful role, the scenes of Sanju baba with father and mother will move you to tears.
Sunil Dutt (what a personality!) tells Sanjay to tackle the problems of his life with the help of ‘USTAAD THEORY’ by listening to the songs of Majrooh sultanpuri, Sahir ludhianui and Ahand Bakshi.
Sanju baba and his girlfriend Ruby (played by cute and smile queen, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja) are looking very adorable and disturbed (I know!). Sanjay Dutt asks her to come to the marriage registrar office but he himself never turns up (no wonder all men are called dogs!).
Sanjay dutt was on drugs the night his mother Nargis Dutt passed away in the hospital. His mother passed away before the release of Sanjay Dutt’s first film Rocky but she had written a letter to Sanjay Dutt saying that the premiere must go on. Sanjay had meltdown at the premiere of his debut film “Rocky”. It was at the premiere that he told his father that he wanted to quit drugs (goosebumps!).
When Sunil Dutt the father takes him to a rehab center in the US, he is given a form to fill, in which he has to tick all the drugs he has used. And guess what, he ends up ticking every drug on the list.
Sanjay Dutt just couldn’t control the urge to pump some drugs into his body, when he escapes from rehab center in America; he not only begged on the streets but travelled for 12 days to a friend’s place in New York to borrow some money for drugs.
At the consulate event Sanju was forced not to sit in the front row with his father and sister. Sanju wanted to read a speech for his father to tell him that father was his hero but sanjay’s speech was canceled in the last moment. And the most emotional bit which makes the Sanju Baba look so sweet and naïve is the dialogue when he says “agar baba 1 saal or zinda hote toh wo baat sunn paate jiske liye unke kaan taras gaye”. He is referring to the judgement which proves him not guilty as a terrorist!
Quiet a good movie but being a female you won’t like him saying that he has slept with hundreds of females including the prostitutes! But take a deep breath and think about it. Good or bad but boy, the guy is a bull!
