Singer Selena Gomez felt huge relief lifted off after she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Selena Gomez is opening up a few big realizations she had when she learned she had bipolar depression.
The “Wolves” singer, age 29, sat down with Elle magazine for the September issue and discussed her mental state struggles also because of the relief she felt after her bipolar diagnosis.
“I felt an enormous weight lifted off me once I acknowledged,” Selena Gomez said. “I could take a deep breath and go, ‘Okay, that explains such a lot .’”
The “Wizards of Waverly Place” singer continued, “There were all things that honestly should have taken me down. Every time I went through something, I used to be like, ‘What else? What else am I going to have to deal with?’”
Selena Gomez was also diagnosed with lupus in the year 2014 and subsequently underwent a kidney transplant and chemotherapy. She revealed the mantra she told herself every day to help her through her painful ordeals: ‘‘You are going to help people.’ That really what kept me going through”. She said.
Selena added that staying off social media has helped alleviate her anxiety which she gave her passwords to her assistant in the year 2017.
“I am like, ‘I have got to do something more. After I am gone, I want people to remember me for my heart,’’ the songstress explained. “This tiny little phone that had 150 million people there on I just put it down. That was such a relief on behalf of me .”
“There could are a time once I was not strong enough and would have done something bad and harm myself,” singer Selena Gomez added.
The Texas native has previously been candid about her anxiety and depression battles. She first revealed her bipolar depression disorder in year April 2020 during Miley Cyrus’ Instagram Live show “Bright Minded.”
Selena Gomez told her ex-Disney co-star, “Recently I visited one among the simplest mental hospitals in America, McLean Hospital, and that I discussed that, after years of browsing tons of different things, I noticed that I used to be bipolar,” she said. “And so when I go to know more information, it helps me. It does not scare me once I get to know it. I wanted to understand everything about it and it took my fear away.”
