What is Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana
The Mukhymantri Ladli Yojana (MLY) is a scheme with the aim of promoting the birth of daughters and making them educated. It operates in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Goa, and Jharkhand at the moment. Financial help will be given by the government in different phases. Despite living in modern times, people’s thinking and mentality is limited to a great extent. That is why in many regions in a country like ours, the birth of a girl child is not celebrated with much happiness, thereby also hindering their development.
Therefore, with the aim of promoting the birth of daughters and making them self-reliant, the government of New Delhi has started Mukhymantri Laadli Yojana. In this, a financial aid of Rs. 36,000 will be given by the government, from the birth of a girl child till her education, which are provided in stages.
Overview and Objective
The number of female children is decreasing, due to the fact that people despise their birth. Hence, in an attempt to promote the birth of daughters, the Delhi government has started Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana, which will provide financial help to girls at various stages from birth up until education. Under this scheme, the amount will be deposited in the parents’ bank account which can then be withdrawn according to the needs until the child turns 18.
The scheme will provide a total of Rs. 35,000 - 36,000 to the girl children. The government believes that the scheme will increase the trend of registering girls after birth.
First installment
Under this scheme, a first installment is given to the parents on the birth of a girl child. The girls who are born in a hospital are given Rs. 11,000, whereas on the birth of a girl child at home, she is given Rs. 10,000. After this, financial assistance is from the government is given on the girl child’s admission in the first class. This benefit is also given after promoting to class 6th, 9th, 10th and then 12th. In each of these stages Rs. 5000 is given by the government.
Terms and conditions of the Scheme
Below are the terms for eligibility to receive the benefits of the scheme:
- The applicant must be a resident of Delhi.
- The annual income of the family of the girl child should not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.
- The benefit of this scheme can be availed only on the birth of two girls in a family.
- The school in which she studies should be recognized by the Government of Delhi.
- At the time of applying, the parents of the girl child must have been living in Delhi for three years.

- Birth certificate of the girl child
- Family photograph with the girl child
- The applicant's caste certificate (in the case of SC/ST)
- Aadhar card
Only those people who have applied for the scheme at the right time will be able to take advantage of the scheme. Therefore, if the girl child has started going to school, then it is necessary to apply within 90 days of admission to the school. If the girl child has just been born, then it is advised to apply within a year, to avail the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Yojana.
Application Procedure
To apply for Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana (MLY), one can approach the State Bank of India (SBI). Apart from this, one can also get detailed information by contacting the government or recognised school and the office of the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Delhi. Under this scheme, SBI Life Insurance Company manages the amount deposited in the bank account of the girl child till she attains the age of 18. At the same time, this amount can be withdrawn at the time of the daughter’s attainment of 18 years and passing the 10th examination or admission in class 12.
Mukhymantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana: Jharkhand
Through the district's Child Development Project, the distribution of 20210 National Savings Certificates (NSC) related to post office deposits to 5000 beneficiaries recognised under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana began. On November 15, 2011, the Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana was started. The programme ended on December 30, 2017. Following that, the initiative was renamed Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana. From the 2011-12 fiscal year through the 2016-17 fiscal year, all recipients authorised under the Chief Minister Ladli Laxmi Yojana will get a National Savings Certificate.
The National Savings Certificate, through the Child Development Scheme, would allow the Deputy Commissioner to disburse the sum deposited at the post office in the name of the beneficiary once the beneficiary reaches the age of 18 and passes the Intermediate.
Benefits of the scheme
The plan will benefit girls who were born up to one year before November 15, 2011.
The daughter of a person earning less than Rs. 75,000 will be chosen in BPL and APL.
Only children who were born in institutions will be considered.
The state government deposited a total of 30 thousand rupees in the postal deposit plan at a rate of Rs. 6,000 per year for five years from the year of birth.
On the beneficiary girl child's enrollment to class six, Rs. 2000 will be paid, Rs. 4000 will be paid on admission to class nine, and a lump sum payment of Rs. 7500 would be granted on admission to class eleven.
There will be a scholarship of Rs. 200 per month in class 11th and 12th, as well as a lump sum payment of Rs. 1,08,600 for appearing in the 12th examination.
The government creates a five-year fixed deposit of Rs. 6,000 in the name of the girl who was selected for the initiative. When the girl child marries, the amount matures to Rs. 1,08,600.
Ladli Laxmi Yojana: Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government launched the Ladli Laxmi Yojana in 2007. The goal of this programme is to modify society's unfavourable attitude about the birth of a female child. In addition, a significant goal was to increase the sex ratio, as well as the educational and health condition of female children.The plan assists non-taxpaying families with girl children born on or after January 1, 2006, as well as female orphans.
Features:
The programme aims to empower females by providing financial support.
All girls enrolled in this programme will be provided with educational assistance so that their families can afford to send them to school. Girls who drop out of school, on the other hand, will not be able to benefit from this scheme.
For the applicant's marriage, the government provides Rs. 1 lakh to her family.
The Ladli Laxmi Yojana does not help girls who marry before they are 18 years old.
Benefits:
After a female child's birth, the state government acquires National Savings Certificates (NSC) worth Rs.6000/- in her name every year. The purchase of NSC is carried out for five years in a row till the total sum exceeds Rs.30,000/-.
2.From class XI to class XII, the girl received an additional payment of Rs.200 per month in addition to her Rs.4,000 monthly education grant.
If the girl does not marry before the age of 18, she would get a lump sum payment of Rs.1 lakh when she turns 21.
Since the introduction of the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, there has been a shift in society's attitude regarding the birth of female children. With financial help for a girl's education and marriage, the perception of females as a burden on the family is rapidly shifting.
