A woman was involved during a hilarious message exchange when her friend mistook her positive Coronavirus-19 test for a pregnancy announcement, resulting in a clumsy conversation about her symptoms.
After testing positive, Helen Phillips, a businesswoman, sent a picture of her lateral flow tests to a friend, who works as a doctor.
When her friend asked how she felt, she replied to mention she had a minor cough and pharyngitis but “nothing major”. But later her friend asked her if she was proud of the result which expectedly left Helen confused.
She replied “About having Coronavirus? I am not ecstatic about it but as long as symptoms stay minor.” It had been then that both realised that they were talking about two very different tests. “Oh!!!!! I thought they were pregnancy tests,” her friend said.
Talking about the hilarious exchange during a lighter vein, Helen said, “I hope my friends would not expect me to announce my pregnancy by sharing pictures of “pee sticks” on social media.”
Helen mentioned that she thought her friend knew her tolerably to understand that Helen would never inform her pregnancy with pictures of her pee stick.
Excusing the confusion, Helen’s doctor friend said, “I wondered why someone would mention having a cough and pharyngitis, but anyhow I just went with it.”
“I did not think much about the photographs when Helen sent me. I was half asleep and it had been six am when it happened. Helen and that I am best friends for years and it is the type of thing she would do. It is an honest thank you to start the day, really,” she further added.
Helen had been planning a job event for months but she tested positive just a day before the occasion, and now she is forced to take off from the job.
