Korean Popular Music, often abbreviated as K-Pop is one of the most popular genres of music right now. K-Pop is a music genre which originates in South Korea as part of South Korean culture. K-pop is influenced by different styles and genres from around the world, which include the pop, experimental, rock, jazz, gospel, hip hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country , and classical above its roots in Korean music. In 2020, K-рор hаd а reсоrd yeаr when it асhieved 44.8% grоwth аnd роsitiоned itself аs the fаstest grоwing mаrket оf the yeаr.
And the K-pop industry has reached new heights with the success of BTS, because of which it also has made a significant growth in the tourism industry where BTS alone brings 8, 00,000 tourists to South Korea per year.
While it can be seen that boy groups in Korea are extremely popular, but it wouldn’t be wrong to say that even girl groups have created a name for them as well. But being a female K-Pop star is not easy because female K-pop stars it is a fight between the strong, sexy and independent women (a product of westernized male gaze) to that of being submissive, cute, lovable and innocent (a product of the patriarchal South Korean society). And body proves as very important role in the lives of the K-pop artists especially females that they often end up saying that they can’t even get hurt without permission as their bodies are the nation’s treasure and that is why have to cherish it always at all costs.
Another aspect that comes along with idea of K-Pop and bands is disbandment of these girl and boy groups after a certain period of time, and when this happens it makes all the fans very emotional and right now the fans of the girl group Lovelyz are going through the same.
It was just a few days ago that the rumours started spreading regarding the disbandment of the girl group Lovelyz and soon enough Woollim Entertainment their agency issued an official statement confirming the disbandment and providing additional information to fans.
And the statement read:
"Hello, this is Woollim Entertainment. This is our company's official statement regarding the expiration of Lovelyz's exclusive contracts. The special contract of Lovelyz members with our company is set to expire on November 16, 2021.
After much discussion and reflection, the seven members of Lovelyz (Yoo Ji Ae, Seo Ji Soo, Lee Mi Joo, Kei, JIN, Ryu Soo Jung, Jeong Ye In) decided to prepare for a new start in a new position, and decided to respect and support the members' decisions.
To the members of Lovelyz, Baby Soul, based on the long-term trust he has built in us, has renewed his contract. As Babysoul's assistants, who have been with us for a long time, we plan to provide full support for his new career and [future].
We would like to express our gratitude to the eight members of Lovelyz who have dedicated themselves to the cause and enlightened the company as artists under Woollim Entertainment over the past seven years, and we sincerely support members with their new beginning.

Lovelyz a South Korean girls 'group formed in the year 2014 under Woollim Entertainment and it is the company's first girls' group. The group has eight members and they are: Baby Soul, Jiae, Jisoo, Mijoo, Kei, Jin, Sujeong and Yein. Lovelyz's debut album, known as Girls' Invasion, was released on November 17, 2014.

Lovelyz 'debut was announced on November 5, 2014 by Woollim Entertainment. Lovelyz released a previously released digital song, "Good Night Like Yesterday", on the same day. Their first show was on November 12 at the K-ART Hall in Olympic Park, and their first stage was the next day at Mnet M Countdown.
The group's debut album Girls' Invasion was officially released on November 17, along with their hit single "Candy Jelly Love". And their album ranked ninth on Taiwan's Five Music Korea-Japan weekly chart and the first on the Japanese Records albums chart. Before appearing for the first time, member Jisoo withdrew from the group's promotion for personal reasons.
Also in August 2016, Lovelyz members were appointed by the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea to become anti-smoking agents in the South Korean military. This arrangement was part of the "Anti-Smoking Soldiers Program" was announced on May 31.

And so, even if it is sad that the band Lovelyz is disbanding so soon, but they had their fair share of time in the industry where they had sung, made music, danced and had made their fans happy. They had made sure to leave their own mark in the South Korean Music Industry, which is great.
