Popular Korean music, often abbreviated as K-Pop, is one of the most popular genres of music right now. K-Pop is a genre of music originating from South Korea as part of South Korean culture. K-pop is influenced by a variety of styles and genres from around the world, including pop, experimental, rock, jazz, gospel, hip hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, folk, national, and classical in addition to its roots in Korean music. . When a modern version of the genre emerged with the formation of one of the first K-pop groups, Seo Taiji and the boys' band, Seo Taiji, in 1992.
The name "K-рор" became popular in the 2000's. Later, South Korean poр music was formerly called gаyо. Although the word "K-рор" is a common term in poрulаr music in South Kоreа, it is often used in a small sense in the genre described here. In 2018, K-рор experienced significant growth and became a ‘power рlayer,’ marking a 17.9% increase in revenue growth.
As of 2019, K-рор is ranked sixth among the top ten music markets worldwide according to the International Federation of Industrial Industry "Global Music" where BTS and Blасkрink are recognized as leading artists in market growth. By 2020, K-рор had a record year when it grew by 44.8% and positioned itself as the fastest growing market of the year.
And the K-pop industry has reached new heights with BTS success, as a result of which it has also made significant strides in the tourism industry where BTS alone brings 8, 00,000 visitors to South Korea per year.
Although K -Pop women's groups or girls' bands are now popular all over the world and are known not only for their music and lyrics but also for their beauty, amazing looks accompanied by singing, and amazing songs and in recent years we have benefited with meeting sizzling girl groups like BLACKPINK, TWICE, Red Velvet Gfriend and more, but K - pop girls' bands are nothing new than they have been around since the late 90's.
And in today's article we will look at one group of such girls, who earned a fair amount of thanks to their fans for the hot MV (Music Videos) and fun dances. Today we are going to talk about Red Velvet and it is back.
Red Velvet - Red Velvet is a South Korean girls' club under SM Entertainment which was a four-member band with Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy but Red Velvet later became a five-member team with their fifth member Yeri joining the group a year later. The band started on August 1, 2014 with their song 'Happiness', which featured four members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy, with Yeri joining the group later.
The Red Velvet team is known for their unique iconic representation, RED represents its bright, clear side, and VELVET represents their finest and softest sides. And musically, Red Velvet's work reflects the name of their band: pop "red" which is part of their occasional research in electronic, funk and hip hop, while their "velvet" side focuses on 'R&B influenced' 90s with ballad and jazz features. Red Velvet girls can also appear in the cameo in the popular 2016 K show Descendants of the Sun.
Now before we go into their details about the return, let's take a quick look at the details about all Red Velvet members and stand as follows:
Joy - Born as Park Soo – Young is Red Velvet’s Joy. Joy is a talented actor, singer, host and most importantly the band member of one of the most famous girl groups Red Velvet. She was seen playing a role in many K dramas such as ‘Tempted, His Lover, The Liar’ and so on. And in 2021 she also debuted as a soloist with her special album ‘Hello’.
Yeri – Born as Kim Ye-Rim, is a South Korean singer and actress alongside being the member of the group Red Velvet. Even if she had joined the group a year later than the debut in 2014, yet she had a cameo in the introduction of the group’s first album ‘Happiness’.
Irene – Born as Bae Joo – Hyun, is not only a member of the girl band Red Velvet but also is a South Korean singer, rapper and actress. She is also a part of the Red Velvet sub unit along with band member Seulgi. She also released her own OST known as the ‘A white Night’ for the movie ‘Double Patty’ where she worked as the main lead.
Seulgi – Born as Kang Seul – Gi is not only the member of the girl group Red Velvet but also a South Korean singer and dancer. She is also a part of the Red Velvet sub – unit alongside member Irene. She has worked on OSTs for dramas like Uncontrollably Fond (Don’t Push Me) and Hwarang (You are the only one I see: alongside band member Wendy).
Wendy – Born as Shon Seung – Wan is a member of the girl group Red Velvet and is also a South Korean singer, voice actress, and radio host. She also just like her band member Joy made solo debut in the year 2021 with the album ‘Like Water’. She also released a solo soundtrack ‘What if Love’ for the 2019 drama ‘Touch your heart’.
And now finally coming to the main topic, that is whether the girl Red Velvet is doing comeback soon or not, if yes then it for sure is a surprise as well as a gift for the fans. Red Velvet had last released their sixth Korean EP (Extended Play) known as ‘Queendom’ back in August 2021 and since then the fans are eagerly waiting for another comeback of the group.
And recently on November 5, there was a discussion among Red Velvet fans as they received information that the girls' band was working on a new album, and this discussion was based on the tweet that they had seen on November 1.
So basically on November 1, songwriter and songwriter Drew Scott wrote a message on Twitter, "I love these Red Velvet records we made last week tbh!"
And this very tweet made the fans go crazy but this was not it what made the fans believe more that the tweet made by Drew Scott was true and the girls are working on a new song to make a comeback because when in addition, the member Yeri also teased that the band is working on a Korean album, and the message was translated and shared by Red Velvet fans on Twitter, it felt more real.
Thus, all the fans are eagerly waiting for their comeback if we go by the tweets made by Yeri and Drew and think that whatever they shared on Twitter is true and were not just teasing the fans. And me being a huge K-Pop fan and ARMY can vouch for the fact the we as fans feel a different level of happiness the moment we hear that our favourite K-Pop idols are working on a new song or album and are going to make a comeback, as it is a treat for us fans.
