• Tinder, The Disruptor
Tinder was founded in 2012, and it has since become the world's most popular dating platform, with the most users. However, as it began to dominate the online dating world with its then-unique approach, a plethora of other platforms emerged that were built on Tinder's basic features. They were all tweaked slightly to differentiate themselves and provide a better experience for their users.
• Bumble, The Challenger
Bumble, one of the most successful challengers, was founded in 2014 by one of Tinder's disgruntled early employees and has gained a significant user base since then. It's also known as the "Feminist Tinder." Bumble is also distinct from other Tinder competitors in that it was not acquired by Tinder's parent company, Match.com. It is still a stand-alone business and a direct competitor to Tinder.
In terms of basic functionality, the apps are identical, as Tinder had two pieces of innovation that helped it become "the app that changed online dating forever."
• Tinder Innovation #1 – Swiping
For starters, Tinder was the first to introduce the ability to swipe profiles as a result of the rise of touchscreen smartphones. It not only made using the app more comfortable from a user experience standpoint, but it also made the entire experience really fun and quick.
Because the amount of effort required to find people who find him or her attractive was so low, people who had never used online dating websites before began to use the app.
• Tinder Innovation #2 – Mutual Interest
Second, on early dating platforms, people could write someone even if the other person had not yet indicated whether she found him or her attractive. On Tinder, however, people can only start a conversation if the attraction is mutual – both the man and the woman swiped right.
Because hundreds of strange strangers can't spam you, the harassment aspect of Tinder is reduced. Tinder became a safer platform as a result, and more girls felt more comfortable trying it out. Because these are the main features that helped Tinder become so popular, Bumble operates in a similar manner.
• The Biggest Difference Between Tinder Vs Bumble – 24 Hour Rule
What Bumble did to distinguish itself from the crowds of Tinder clones is a feature that earned it the moniker "feminist Tinder." Unlike Tinder, if there is a match, only women can make the first move, which means they must message first.
In the simplest case, the girl has 24 hours to initiate a conversation. After 24 hours, if she does not begin chatting, the match will be deleted, and there will be no way to contact the guy again unless they match again later.
There are no such rules on Tinder, which causes two major issues. Many times, because there is no pressure on either the men or the women to start the conversation, it simply does not begin. Second, because a match can remain there indefinitely, many people, both men and women, use match numbers to boost their ego. They don't initiate conversations or respond to openers because all they care about is how many people swiped right.
In the end, this feature doesn't help those who want to use Tinder for what it was designed for: meeting up with people for a hook-up or long-term dating. Bumble facilitates this part of the dating process by making it mandatory for girls to text a "Hi" within 24 hours.
There is also a feminist component to the Bumble feature, which led to the nickname "Feminist Tinder for Bumble." Essentially, the 24-hour rule gives girls more power to choose whether or not to initiate a conversation after the match.
• Bumble Modes
Another distinction between the two dating apps is that Bumble is more than just a dating app. There are two other modes in Bumble that you can use: one for finding friends and the other for networking and finding mentors.
• Bumble BFF
Its friendship mode is called Bumble BFF, and you can use it in the same way that you would use Bumble dating mode: add photos, write about yourself in your profile, and swipe through other profiles to find potential friends. You can only find a friend of your gender in Bumble BFF mode, so you can't use it to find hot dates.
• Bumble Bizz
Bumble Bizz is Bumble's networking mode. The functionality is the same as with Bumble BFF and Bumble Date; add pictures to your profile and write something about your professional interests, and then swipe to find mentors or peers who share your interests. Bumble Bizz can be used to find professional partners of your gender as well as those of the opposite gender.
If you are not currently single or looking for dates and do not want to use Bumble Date, you can disable it and only use Bumble BFF and/or Bumble Bizz. You can also use all three modes at the same time.
Although, as previously stated, Bumble has non-dating modes, it is important to note that the majority of people use it for dating purposes. However, it is a nice extra feature or add-on that you can use the app to meet new people and network with others.
• Tinder Modes
Tinder doesn't have any other modes or anything similar for finding friends and networking, but if you're clever, you can definitely use it for that as well. You may also be friend-zoned if you don't know how to properly message and set up dates on Tinder.
3. Profile On Tinder Vs Bumble
A minor but discernible difference can be found in the profile sections of the apps, with Tinder taking a more minimalist approach and Bumble allowing you to share more about yourself.
• Tinder Profile
On Tinder, you can still only share your school, job, and the company you work for, but you can share whatever you want in your bio. However, as we mentioned in our Tinder Bio guide, it is best to keep it brief.
• Bumble Profile
Bumble is more similar to a traditional dating platform, such as OkCupid or Match.com, where you can literally write novels about your hobbies, personality, and yourself. Bumble is a dating app that sits somewhere between OkCupid and Tinder, allowing you to share a lot of information.
Which approach is superior is entirely a matter of personal preference. Of course, even on Bumble, you don't have to answer every question they ask; you can keep it to a minimum if you prefer.
4. Tinder Vs Bumble: User Experience, User Interface
Aside from the swiping, the two platforms take a slightly different approach. Swiping works the same way if you want to like someone: swipe right if it's a "no way" for you, then swipe left.
• Tinder UX And UI
The ability to read the bio and profile information differs slightly. When you scroll through the profile pictures on Tinder, you can see a small portion of it. You must tap on the profile's name to see the full bio. So, even if they look through your pictures, most people won't see the majority of your bio.
• Bumble UX And UI
When you scroll through the pictures on Bumble, the information she provided about herself is displayed. This increases the likelihood that people will read the bio and provides a greater incentive to provide useful bio information.
In terms of UI errors, no platforms have recently experienced significant issues. Tinder, particularly the older version, had some serious UI issues, such as accidentally Super likingprofiles, but this is no longer the case. You don't have to worry about it if you have a good smartphone and use the most recent version of the app.
In general, both apps offer a comfortable user experience and a great UI that is free of flaws. They differ because Bumble could not completely replicate the Tinder UI, avoiding legal issues, but the swiping mechanism is the same, providing users with a very smooth and fine experience overall.
5. Features On Tinder Vs Bumble
• Taking Your Last Swipe Back – Rewind Vs Backtrack
On both Tinder and Bumble, you can reverse your last swipe. Tinder calls this feature Rewind, while Bumble calls it Backtrack.
The main difference is that Rewind is only available to Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold subscribers, whereas Bumble offers three free Backtracks per day, which should be sufficient for most users. In this case, Bumble comes out on top.
• Social Profiles
Connecting your social profiles is a great way to show off your personality, share more photos with potential matches, and gain social proof. Tinder and Bumble both allow you to link your accounts to Instagram and Spotify.
Connecting your Instagram account to Tinder was also a great way to increase your Instagram following, as many girls only signed up for Tinder to promote their Instagram account and never used it. Public Instagram profiles were also a safety hazard, exacerbating the problem of online harassment. Tinder stopped showing the names of IG profiles for these reasons.
6. Paid Features And Subscription In Tinder Vs Bumble
7. Features Both In Tinder And Bumble
• Unlimited Likes
Tinder and Bumble both started with a limited number of likes as a way to build up to an Unlimited Likes feature for paying subscribers. That is what Tinder did first, and what Bumble had to do after realising that it could be a very convincing point for signing up for Bumble Boost.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, it is widely assumed that women on Tinder can right swipe more before reaching the like limit.
• Gain More Profile Visibility Feature – Tinder Boost Vs Bumble Spotlight
This feature is available in Tinder and Bumble under different names (Tinder Boost and Bumble Spotlight, respectively), but the functionality is the same. They let you "skip the line" for 30 minutes and be one of the most popular profiles in your neighbourhood.
In the online dating world, the name Boost is easily confused. It is a premium feature on Tinder that allows you to increase your profile visibility, whereas it is the name of Bumble's subscription plan Bumble Boost.
• Show That You Like Him/her The Feature –Bumble Super Swipe Vs Tinder Super Like
Once again, a feature with different names in both apps. Tinder calls it SuperLike, while Bumble got creative and named it SuperSwipe to avoid legal issues.
Regardless of the name, both features allow you to do the same thing: you can tell someone you like her or him before she or he swipes your right. Both Bumble and Tinder claim that by using these features, you can increase your chances of matching.
If you don't have a Gold or Plus subscription, you get one Super Like per day. You get 5 Super Likes per day with the premium plans, and you can buy more if you want.
On Bumble, you do not get free Super Swipes; instead, you must pay one Bumble coin for one Super Swipe. Users receive a notification if they are superswiped by someone, which does not happen on Tinder with Superlikes.
Although Bumble Superswipes result in a notification, we believe Tinder wins this feature due to the free Superlikes.
• See Who Liked Your Profile – Tinder Likes Me Vs Bumble Beeline
You can use this feature to see who liked your profile before swiping them. This feature, called Likes You, is only available on Tinder's premium subscription plan, Tinder Gold. On Bumble, it's known as Beeline, and it's also included in their subscription plan, Bumble Boost (it is cheaper though than Tinder Gold).
This is great if your profile and photo are both excellent and you are receiving a large number of matches and don't want to waste time swiping through all of the profiles, or if you are extremely busy and simply want to match with whoever has swiped you right. Bumble is the winner in this feature because you get it with the cheaper subscription.
• Change Your Location – Tinder Passport Vs Bumble Travel
Tinder Passport allows you to change your location and swipe profiles in cities far away. It is a feature included in Tinder premium subscription plans. It's great if you're travelling somewhere and want to meet new people, but don't have time for Tinder when you're in the city. As a result, you can change your location prior to your trip and set up dates ahead of time.
Bumble has recently copied Tinder Passport, and users can now change their location with Bumble Travel. This feature is not included in the Bumble Boost subscription and must be purchased separately. One 7-day location change costs 5 Bumble coins.
8. Features Only In Bumble
• Extend Your Matches
This feature is only available on Bumble because it makes sense only on Bumble. If she hasn't messaged you within the first 24 hours, you can use Extend to add another 24 hours. If you don't have Bumble Boost, you can only do this once per day; with the premium subscription, you can extend as many times as you want in a day.
• Bumble Rematch
Another Bumble feature that makes sense only on Bumble is rematch. If you had a match and the girl did not message you within 24 hours, you can rematch with her right after the match ended using this feature. Bumble Boost subscribers are the only ones who can rematch.
• Bumble Filters
Bumble Filters is one of Bumble's more useful and unique features. It allows you to apply specific criteria to filter profiles and see those that match your criteria. You can apply two filters in each Bumble mode if you use Bumble for free. Bumble Boost allows you to apply an unlimited number of filters.
Filters can be applied to any of the questions on your Bumble profile. Height, smoking habits, desire for children, politics, religion, and so on. Keep in mind that you can only apply filters if you have also answered that question in your profile.
• Bumble Modes
Modes are not features, and we have already discussed them, so no further explanation is required, but it is worth repeating that Bumble has dedicated Modes for finding friends and making new professional relationships, whereas Tinder does not.
9. Features Only In Tinder
• Tinder Super Boost
Boost and Beeline are two of Tinder and Bumble's most popular features. Tinder Super Boost has the same functionality as those, with the main difference being that Tinder claims it increases your profile visibility 100 times.
It is the feature that truly works and can bring you a lot of new matches, but it is also quite pricey. It also has the negative side effect of making regular Tinder Boost (which still costs money) less effective than it was a couple of years ago.
• Hide Your Age And Location
If you have a Tinder Plus subscription, you can hide your age and location on the app. We don't recommend using these features because they aren't very useful.
• Top Picks
Each Tinder user receives one Top Pick per day. Tinder Gold subscribers receive 10 top picks per day, with the option to purchase more if you enjoy this feature. The Tinder algorithm selects these Top Picks, which are profiles that are swiped right by the majority of the profiles.
We believe that it is not the feature that makes Tinder Gold worthwhile to purchase because you will not appear in a premium location for these profiles if you do not have a great profile (but that does not have anything to do with this feature).
• Tinder U
Tinder has introduced Tinder U, a feature designed specifically for university students (currently available only in the U.S.). It is a fantastic feature for college students, and we strongly advise you to take advantage of it if you are able.
To swipe profiles of other nearby college students, you must have a.edu email address and be physically located on campus. It will give your profile a natural boost among other Tinder U users.
• Swipe Surge
Swipe Surge is a relatively new feature that is only available in a few countries. A push notification alerts the user when there is an increase in the number of active users.
When you open the app and join Swipe Surge, you will see other people who have also joined it, and the algorithm will give you a natural boost in your profile visibility.
• Special Promotions On Tinder
Tinder also runs several limited-time promotions for all users or specific demographics or locations, such as Festival Mode when there is a festival in a neighbourhood or #SwipeOFF, which was a special competition for Tinder U users.
They also created a series called Swipe Night, in which people could take part in an interactive series and match with others who had also taken part in Swipe Night.
10. Bumble Vs Tinder Features Review
Tinder appears to be slightly ahead in terms of features, with new features appearing on a regular basis. Bumble's feature strategy is more focused on creating features that improve the user experience and benefit all users, rather than just certain demographics.
11. Tinder Vs Bumble: Premium Subscriptions
• Tinder Plus And Gold Vs Bumble Boost
There is only one premium plan available on Bumble, which is called Bumble Boost. (This is not to be confused with Tinder's premium feature Tinder Boost.) Bumble Boost offers four premium features, which we have already discussed: Beeline, Rematch, Unlimited Extends and Filters, and Unlimited Likes.
Bumble Boost is similar to Tinder's lower-tier subscription plan, Tinder Plus.
Tinder Plus has the following features: Passport, Hide your age or location, Rewind, and Unlimited Likes. There are no advertisements, 5 SuperLikes per day, and 1 free Boost per month.
Tinder Gold, Tinder's higher-level premium subscription, has two additional features on top of Tinder Plus's features: Top Picks and Likes me. You have to pay a lot more money for these two, and only Likes Me appears to be useful. This feature, known as Beeline, is available in Bumble Boost.
• Price Of Premium Features And Subscription – Tinder Vs Bumble
Bumble Boost is comparable to Tinder's lower-tier subscription plan, Tinder Plus. It is difficult to compare them because their monthly prices vary depending on the number of months purchased.
Tinder pricing varies depending on your age, gender, and location, but a 1-month subscription to Tinder Plus costs around $19.99 USD, and a Tinder Gold subscription costs $29.99 USD.
The standard 1-month price of Bumble Boost is currently 24.99 USD per month, which is roughly halfway between the prices of Tinder Gold and Tinder Plus.
12. Tinder Vs Bumble: Safety Security And Security Features
• Profile Verification
Bumble, dubbed the "Feminist Tinder," was the first to include verified profile photos. Users can take selfies, which are then compared to their profile pictures by an algorithm. If Bumble successfully matches the selfies and profile pictures, your profile will be verified, and you will see a nice blue checkmark next to your name. Due to the fact that not everyone verifies their profile, it is a great social signal that increases your chances of matching.
Tinder was lagging in this regard, but it recently added some new security features that made it possibly even better than Bumble. This includes verification, which was already available in Bumble, as well as the Panic Button, which appears to be a significant innovation in the online dating industry.
• Tinder Panic Button
Tinder Panic Button can help users feel more secure when they decide to meet up with someone. People can share the time of their date in the app's safety section. By enabling their location information and downloading the Noonlight app, where the panic button is available, they can request assistance from emergency services if they believe their safety is in jeopardy.
13. Tinder Vs Bumble: User Base
• Overall User Numbers
The man-to-woman ratio may be more important. Although Tinder is the undisputed leader in the online dating industry in terms of absolute user numbers, it falls short in terms of women-to-men ratio. Bumble is clearly in the lead.
• Men To Women Ratio On Bumble Vs Tinder
Although Tinder does not publicly share the male-to-female ratio, previous reports claimed that the female-to-male ratio is less than 40%. However, this ratio is thought to be worse now because increased competition from Bumble and other dating apps has caused Tinder to lose its position as the only choice for a dating platform.
• International Availability
Another important factor in terms of user numbers is that Bumble, as the younger platform, has only recently begun to launch and gain popularity in Europe and other non-US markets. As a result, if you are not in the United States or Canada, the Tinder user base may be much larger.
• Active Users Ratio
Bumble's unique First Move feature not only empowers women but also works to speed up the start of conversations. Whereas on Tinder, it is common to receive no response to your "opener," and many girls' only goal is to boost their ego by having a large match number and to promote their Instagram profiles.
Bumble's feature has an indirect effect: women on Bumble are more active because they must initiate the conversation if the match is not to disappear. On Tinder, it's not uncommon for a guy's first message to go unanswered by a woman.
One disadvantage of this feature is that sometimes women simply do not send a message within 24 hours, and the match disappears. To summarise, Bumble has fewer but more active conversations than Tinder.
14. Bumble Vs Tinder – Which Should You Use?
Because there is no cost to sign up for either app, we recommend that you try both of them, use them actively, and decide for yourself which one is better for you. If you only want to sign up for one, we will provide you with additional assistance so that you can make a more informed decision, but keep in mind that because everyone is different, the best option will be different for everyone.
There is a common misconception that Tinder is used for short-term relationships or hookups, whereas Bumble, dubbed "the feminist Tinder," is used to find long-term relationships. This may be true, but it does not rule out the possibility of meeting someone long-term on Tinder and short-term on Bumble.
There are many people on both platforms with various intentions. To be fair, the majority of people on these platforms don't know whether they want something long-term or something short-term. As a result, don't be too concerned with this aspect when selecting a dating platform. If you are only looking for long-term relationships, Tinder and Bumble can help you find par.
Tinder Vs Bumble: Which One Is Better For Guys?
You will find more girls in absolute numbers on Tinder, sotners with mutual interests.
if you believe your Tinder game and profile are top-notch, and your messaging skills
are world-class, you will have more success on Tinder. You will receive a large number of matches and opportunities for meet ups and dates. Although the female-to-male ratio on Tinder is lower, if you are a superstar, this doesn't matter because as a top profile, Tinder's algorithm will show your profile to a large number of attractive women.
If you're getting very few Tinder matches, it's because your profile pictures aren't high enough quality or your Tinder openers aren't working. First and foremost, don't be disheartened; everything can be developed, but it takes time. So, perhaps it's time to try Bumble, where the competition is lower and your opening messages aren't as important because the girls must make the first move.
• Bumble Vs Tinder: Which One Is Better For Girls?
Both platforms have advantages; choose the one that best suits your needs.
Tinder will provide you with a tonne of match opportunities if you don't want to put a lot of resources into online dating and you have great photos. The question isn't whether you'll get enough matches, but rather who you should respond to. Every day, you can go on a date or simply see new compliments when you open the app. We can't deny that because Tinder matches don't disappear, it'll be great for boosting your ego, as you'll be able to see how many men have found you attractive.
Bumble is the one to use if you want more control and more meaningful conversations. Remember, on Bumble, you must message first, or your matches will disappear. It gives you more power, and fewer men will bombard you with NSFW images. If you don't want to be lame and start with a "Hi" or "Wassup," as most men and women do, you should put some thought and creativity into your first message.
Outside of the North American markets, regardless of gender, the number of Bumble users is still significantly lower. This means that the number of matches available in your area will be reduced, but quantity does not imply quality. Also, if you want to match with American men or women but live outside of the US, Bumble can help you because the ratio of Americans on Bumble is much higher than on Tinder.
