What is Facebook Dating and how does it work?
Facebook Dating is a free dating service available in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries. It debuted in 2019 and has been gradually making its way around the world since then.
Everything you need to know about Facebook Dating, including how it works and what it has to offer, is right here.
1. What is Facebook Dating?
Facebook Dating is a dating service designed to help Facebook users find meaningful relationships based on interests they share (i.e., similar interests and groups). It's designed to eliminate the hassle of creating a separate dating profile, and Instagram is integrated, allowing you to share Instagram posts directly to your dating profile and add both Facebook friends and Instagram followers to secret crush lists.
You might be sceptical of Facebook Dating. After all, even if you do it online, finding a partner is a very personal experience. As a result, in order to use Facebook Dating, you must first opt-in. You'll also be able to report and block people, preventing them from sending you photos, videos, messages, and so on.

2. How does Facebook Dating work?
Set up your profile
Facebook Dating is accessible via the three lines in the bottom right corner of the Facebook mobile app's main menu. Tao, go to the Facebook Dating tab and sign up to make a dating profile (separate from your main profile).
You will be able to enter personal information about yourself, such as your height, religion, job title, degrees and education, and whether or not you have children. When creating your dating profile, Facebook may also suggest photos and information from your Facebook profile, which you can edit or remove.
NOTE: To use Facebook Dating, you must be at least 18 years old.
Finding a match
During the setup process, Facebook Dating will ask you to specify your gender as well as the gender(s) of the people you want to match with on the service. You'll see inclusive gender options like cis woman, trans woman, cis man, trans man, and non-binary person, and you can choose whether you want to look at everyone, women, men, trans women, or trans men. None of this information will be made available to potential matches.
Only people who have opted into Facebook Dating will be suggested to you, and people will be suggested to you based on your preferences, interests, and "other things you do on Facebook." You will see friends of friends as well as people who are not in your friend circle.
Unless you both add each other to your "Secret Crush" lists, Facebook Dating will not match you with your Facebook friends.
Contacting a match
If you're interested in someone, there's no need to swipe; simply comment on their Facebook Dating profile or tap the Like button to let them know. You may decline if you are not interested.
All of your activities on Facebook Dating will be kept private and will not be shared with Facebook.
3. What is a Secret Crush list?
You can use Secret Crush to match with people you already know on Facebook and Instagram. You can add up to nine Facebook friends or Instagram followers to your Secret Crush list. (However, in order to add Instagram followers, you must first connect your Instagram account to Facebook Dating.)
Those individuals will then receive notification that someone has a crush on them. It's a match if your crush adds you to their Secret Crush list as well. If your crush isn't on Facebook Dating, doesn't make a Secret Crush list, or doesn't add you to their list, they won't know a thing.
4. Where is Facebook Dating available?
Facebook Dating is now available in the United States, the United Kingdom, and a number of other countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, and Vietnam.
