The unfortunate situation of American bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor at the start of the 2022 Winter Olympics has been widely publicised. Meyers Taylor, who was chosen as one of Team USA's flagbearers at the Opening Ceremony, tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival and had to spend several days in isolation.

 

But what does Meyers Taylor's ordeal reveal about the difficulties that female Olympians face? Meyers Taylor joins The Podium on Day 8 of the podcast to talk about her experience and how she dealt with being separated from her husband and 2-year-old son.
