STAYC, ENHYPEN, ITZY, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, & ATEEZ Are 5 Up-And-Coming Korean Artists You Should Know Right Away
Ø STAYC
Star To A Young Culture
(STAYC), a brand-new girl group with six members, has a lot of potential.
Despite having only released a few projects thus far and being represented by a
smaller firm, STAYC, which made its debut in November 2020 under High Up
Entertainment, is now topping newly formed girl groups in album sales. The
popularity of the group can be attributed in part to the pre-debut YouTube
videos that were made by the members of the High Up Girls, who filmed dance and
vocal renditions of songs by BTS, BLACKPINK, and TWICE.
In the first 24 hours,
"So Bad," their debut song, received more than 2.6 million views.
They made history by becoming the first 2020 rookie girl group to sell more than
50,000 copies of a single album with the release of their second single album,
Staydom, in April. It's no surprise the girls' feel-good music is breaking into
the market since Black Eyed Pilseung, the producing duo behind multiple
successes like TWICE's "Fancy" and "TT," is in charge of
it. The youthful and adorable Teen Fresh concept they're promoting is ideal for
the forthcoming summer and is guaranteed to attract a tonne of bops and
followers.
Ø ENHYPEN
ENHYPEN is a force to be
reckoned with in the pop music industry right now. They are perhaps one of the
most interesting groups to enter the K-pop market in recent years. After coming
together on the competition show "I-Land," the young guys dominated
2020 rookie group sales records. A joint venture between HYBE and CJ ENM's
Belift Lab is the parent firm of several members who were originally trainees
under HYBE.
With intricate
storytelling, powerful vocals, and eye-catching choreography, the group is now
building a name for itself. Members' ages range from 15 to 19, and they come
from as varied nations as Australia and Japan. Their most recent work, BORDER:
CARNIVAL, continues the introspective world-building that will undoubtedly get
more intricate and compelling with time. Infamously known as "monster
rookies," the septet shows no signs of slowing down.
Ø ITZY
ITZY has a magnetic
quality that the K-pop business desperately needs. A five-member force of sass,
self-assurance, and fun, the JYP Entertainment girl group debuted on the scene
in 2019. They are also the first K-pop Global Spokesmodels for Maybelline, with
a seductive teen crush sound and messages of self-love and independence.
With "In the
Morning" as its main single, their most recent release became their
quickest video to surpass 100 million views. Additionally, they have joined
BLACKPINK as the only Korean girl group to twice make it to the Canadian Hot
100. With so many achievements made in their first two years, it's impossible
to predict where the dynamic act will go next. Whether they become famous for a
flashy shoulder shimmy or a classic outfit, the group's addictive discography
and charismatic personas allude to global pop stardom.
Ø TOMORROW
X TOGETHER
TXT, the second group to
make their HYBE debut after K-pop powerhouses BTS, is frequently hailed as the
pioneer of the fourth generation of the genre. The five-piece ensemble has
experimented with many genres since its debut in 2019, and they now contribute
to music production and songwriting. Their most recent EP, minisode: Blue Hour,
premiered at No. 25 on the US Billboard 200 and was an emotive compilation of
songs about the COVID-19 pandemic as seen through the eyes of young people.
They have appeared on the
covers of magazines like Elite Daily and Teen Vogue because of their complete
record, which is poetic and appealing to Gen-Z. They're sure to attract notice
as they embark on a new phase of their musical careers with the release of
their second studio album at the end of May. The group's climb to international
fame is well merited because of its exceptional capacity to address subjects
that are both pertinent and alluring foto a wide audience.
Ø ATEEZ
ATEEZ made its KQ
Entertainment debut in late 2018, but with each new release, its fan base has
steadily increased. They are presently participating in the popular K-pop boy
group competition show "Kingdom: Legendary War" in Korea. The trio,
which is renowned for its dramatic and enthralling dance routines and rap-heavy
tunes, was the fifth most tweeted about musical act in 2020. The
eight-person trio, which has garnered notice on a global scale since its inception,
is a recent breakout that constantly offers up fresh, creative sounds.
Zero: Fever Part 2, their
most recent album, debuted in March and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard World
Albums chart. Another group outside of the traditional Big 3 K-pop conglomerates,
ATEEZ has a compelling underdog narrative and a distinctive musical style that
fans enjoy. The band has dealt with illnesses, injuries, and other difficulties
under the motivating motto "8 make 1 team" without abandoning their
devoted fan base. With loyalty like that, they are unquestionably committed to
the long haul.
