#TongueTwister: Funny reactions!

Have you ever wondered what actually a Tongue Twister is? Well, according to Wikipedia, a tongue-twister is a phrase that is designed to be difficult to articulate properly, and can be used as a type of spoken (or sung) word game. Some tongue-twisters produce results that are humorous (or humorously vulgar) when they are mispronounced, while others simply rely on the confusion and mistakes of the speaker for their amusement value.

Tongue twisters gained popularity in 19th century, ‘She sells sea-shells on the sea-shore’ tongue twister was originally published in 1850 and the term tongue twister was first applied to these kinds of expressions in 1895.

There are numerous kinds of tongue twisters around the world; most of them can be found in the International Collection of Tongue Twisters.

Team iChhori had lots of fun asking people in Delhi to repeat some really interesting tongue twisters, which you can watch on our YouTube Channel

#Giving: Let’s play little bit of GOD!

On a usual busy day of my life, my phone rings with an extra bit of vibration and excitement, ‘Drum calling..’ screen reads. ‘Drum’ is an old friend, and he is very fond of chatting around about anything and everything and hence we named him drum.

I was so glad to get his call after a gap of two months. He calls to say that he is around and would like to catch up. We fix the time and place and get on with our left over chores for the day. In the evening, we meet at the Domino’s and dive deep into the sea of moments we two had been collecting together over the years. Service guy brings our large size pizza which we didn’t even remember that we had ordered. While blasting into non stop meaningless laughter, we hardly could finish a slice or two. Drum calls it a night and decides to leave me alone with the over-sized pizza and a suggestion that I should dump it in the bin.

I take a second in deciding what to do with the left over pizza and suddenly it crosses my mind that it could be useful for some needy ones. Each festive season, I distribute plenty of goods to the kids in the slums of Sector 17, Faridabad, India. I decide to give the Pizza to the kids in the same area.

It was around 9.30 pm and I didn’t realize that it could be so dark and so cold in the winter at that hour. No one was around the slums as all seemed to be deep asleep under the rags and polyethylene sheets, after all that is all they could afford to have during the winter. A few steps more and I find 3 women sitting just outside their slum close to the fire of a burning bicycle tyre. I get out of the car with the pizza in my hand and walk towards them.

Trying to gather their timid bodies, they look at me with their confused eyes and one of them hesitantly asks,

‘जी बाबूजी ? (yes sir?)’.

‘आप लोग सोए नहीं अभी तक?’ (you are still awake at this hour?’, I asked just to break the ice.

‘बाबूजी बस इतने ही कपडे हैं की बच्चे ओढ़ के सो सकें, हमें तो इस आँच का ही सहारा है’, (sir, we have just enough bedding for the kids, we will pass the night sitting around this fire), one of them replies.

‘ये ले लो ‘ (pls take this), I offer the pizza to them. All of them look at the packet with a big question in their eyes as they had no idea what the item was.

‘ये खाने की चीज़ है’ (its something to eat), I said to them.

Before she could even hold on to the packet I offered, two 3-4 yr old kids ran out of the slum and snatched the packet from my hand. They started eating the slices as if they had been starving forever!

Women look at the kids with affection and one of them says to me, ‘शुक्रिया बाबूजी, वरना आज तोः बच्चे भूखे ही सोए थे ‘ (thank you sir, kids went to bed without food today).

Her sentence felt like a sword in my heart, I sat in my car but couldn’t even drive for a while, I kept looking at the kids still eating every tiny bit of that pizza. The pizza which we were about to throw in the garbage bin. Somehow, I felt guilty, very guilty rather, as if I am responsible for the starvation of those kids. I swear to god, I could not sleep even for a second that night. Everything had vanished from my world that night except the picture of those kids and that very sentence of their mom, ‘शुक्रिया बाबूजी, वरना आज तोः बच्चे भूखे ही सोए थे ‘ (thank you sir, kids went to bed without food today)…

Sex Before Marriage: Why #Virginity of girls is such a big issue!

Do you know, there are people in this world who use white bed sheet on the wedding night to check whether the girl/bride is #virgin or not!

A girl is supposed to be virgin till she gets married. If she is not a virgin, she gets judged. boys want to get married to virgin girls only. what if girls start demanding the same status for boys? Boys can have sex with as many women as they want before getting married but a girl can not. If she does, she gets labelled as slut, prostitute, bad character etc. going by the logic its the guy who should be called a prostitute as he had sex with multiple women before marriage!

In countries like India, middle east and some of the African countries, virginity is considered to be a sacred thing. if a girl is virgin, she is treated as if she is the most cultured and moral human being around.

iChhori team went out on the streets of Delhi and talked to girls about the importance and relevance of virginity in today’s world. lets find out what these young girls of India have to say about virginity

#MeToo: Rape within Family

How will you punish a father who rapes his own daughter, a brother who rapes his own sister or his own mother? Rape by own family members have become such a common news these days. The blood stops in the veins, the body freezes. What the world has come to? Who will punish the protectors who suddenly have turned into demons? They ruin innocent souls mercilessly. The victim, the poor girl does not get justice rather gets judged by other family members for not being very careful!

There have been so many incidents where family the so called ‘safe’ place have turned into a wild and dangerous emotionless jungle. Let me share some shocking stories with you.

A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a family member and got pregnant. During her pregnancy, all the members of the family tried to cover up the ruthless assault. The little girl was kept hidden from the society. The family members used to beat her up and jump on her stomach. The girl eventually gave birth and the baby was cruelly burnt on a charcoal grill according to the prosecutor of this case. Police arrested the suspects but what justice can be served to the little and 14 year old innocent soul. Will she ever be able to lead a normal life?

A 9-year-old was raped by her own brother. People asked her ‘why didn’t she run away from him? She gave the innocent answer. She said that all kids get punishment for being naughty and she thought that her brother was beating her up.

In another real life incidence, a girl gets raped by her mother’s ex-husband. She had been raped till 17 by her stepdad. Then a man came into her life and after getting her pregnant he left her alone. Now she has got 18 year old son but her own family manipulates him and her son doesn’t even want to see her. She is all alone in life, dealing with her ordeal on her own.

Another 15 year old girl says when a relative came and started staying in her house, he started raping her. She was extremely depressed and confused. She continued to be silent for many months. He threatened her by saying that if she tells anybody he would rape her siblings too. Irony is that her parents were running an NGO who worked for women’s right but their own daughter was not able to exercise her rights.

iChhori wants to be blunt and straight in saying that girls are not safe anywhere in this world even in their own families. Protectors have become destroyers. Be cautious, be protective and more importantly be safe. If anything bad happens to you, be strong and raise your voice. There are hands in the family which will tear your clothes off and on the other hand there are hands outside family who will protect you. Anything is possible in this unpredictable world. Be strong and be iChhori!
